It’s not uncommon in the LuLaRoe community to hear people talk about their LuLaRoe why. Why they chose LuLaRoe and why they are a LuLaRoe retailer. It’s an important thing to keep at the forefront of your mind. Not knowing why you’re doing something can lead to losing your passion, drive, and excitement about what you’re doing. You probably won’t be driven to be successful and you may be unhappy.
Growing up, I always noticed those around me who were unhappy with their jobs. They were unhappy, definitely not passionate, and dreaded going to work each and every day. I got my first job at the age of 15 and quickly learned that there was no “perfect” job. No matter what job i did in high school and college, there were parts I loved, parts I liked, and parts that I dreaded. But overall, I was happy and enjoyed what I did. If I didn’t, I found another opportunity. I was determined not to spend my days, and my life, unhappy with my career.
I grew up wanting to be a teacher. But when I went to college, I chose what I deemed the safe route, and chose marketing as my major. I had worked in sales, I loved being creative and I thought it would be fast paced and fun. I didn’t pick education as my major because there were too many unknowns, in my mind.
I graduated and my first job right out of college was working as a software trainer. After 6 months working as a trainer, I knew that I needed to be a teacher. The details of how it was going to happen were unknown at the time. What I did know was that I was driven and passionate, and I was willing to do whatever it took to make it happen.
I moved into a new sales position that allowed me to go to school, and I spent 2 years working full-time during the day and going to school nights and weekends. I became a teacher and never looked back…until I got married and had my son.
My Original LuLaRoe Why
I also grew up wanting nothing more than to be a mom. I dreamed of staying home with my children, but once married, knew that was not going to be possible. Our family needed two incomes, just like many families, and that was it. I truly loved teaching, but desired to be home with my son. As a teacher, I was grateful for my vacations and summer off to spend with him, but dreaded the day in August when I would have to leave him again.
My daughter was born in July of 2015. I was able to take maternity leave at the beginning of the school year, and while on leave I spent time researching options to earn some extra money. I had no plans to leave teaching, but wanted to find something to help us be a little more comfortable with our finances.
How LuLaRoe Found Me
LuLaRoe literally appeared in front of me on my computer screen. I was invited to online pop ups and watched women go crazy over the clothes. The clothes that I had only seen in photos and read about online. I love clothes and knew from my previous experience that I could sell. That was never a concern. BUT, I also knew that I needed to be passionate about what I was selling to be successful. I was drawn to LuLaRoe mostly because no two retailers would have the same inventory, and I was able to choose what styles I wanted to carry in MY boutique.
Initially, my LuLaRoe why was to earn some extra money to help my family’s finances. Throughout the 2+ years I’ve been a LuLaRoe retailer, my why has evolved, which is very common as your life and your goals change.
I was able to grow my business enough to make my wildest, craziest dream come true. Not long after becoming a retailer, I became a WAHM, or work at home mom. I always knew I wanted to be a stay at home mom and never dreamed of being a work at home mom. I’ve learned that this is the best of both worlds or me, and I’m living a life that is better than I dreamed.
My Current LuLaRoe Why
Today, my LuLaRoe why, in one sentence, is to have freedom and make dreams come true. My family is enjoying freedom that we never even imagined we would have. We have been able to experience financial freedom and not live paycheck to paycheck. We continue to have financial goals, and we continue to work hard to achieve them, while enjoying the freedom we’ve been given #becauseoflularoe. I have the freedom to set my own hours. It means so much to me to be able to take my son to and from school each day. I can start work late on Monday mornings to take my daughter to music class and I can stop working each afternoon to walk her upstairs to take her nap because she asks me. These experiences are priceless to me.
We’ve been given freedoms that have allowed us to dream a little bigger, and make those dreams we believed to be unreachable, actually come true. I dreamed my entire life of going to Disney World. My dream finally came true when my husband took me there on our honeymoon. I remember us, newly married, walking through Magic Kingdom talking about how fun it would be to take our kids there someday. It was so fun to talk about, but in my head I couldn’t help think that it would never happen. How would we be able to afford such an elaborate vacation? Well, we spent a week celebrating our son’s 5th birthday at Disney World last February. We might just be planning another trip…
I want to inspire my children, my team, and those in my community, to dream big and help them to know that their dreams can come true with hard work and determination.
